Edit: I went through the active roster of every team in the NHL and included everything from rookies like Grigoreno, Yakupov and Komorov (and Galchenyuk, whose not even REALLY Russian) to guys who are barely NHLers anymore like Khabibulin or Kovalev, and counted everything from Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakhstanian, Belarusian all under the "Russian" heading and there are only 37 players TOTAL from all of those nationalities, including rookies and guys who are likely done after this year/might not even get ice time this year, playing in the NHL right now.
This is actually a fantastic post. I hadn't realized the number was so tiny.
