If this is a real story it is awesome. As a parent who had my first son pass away from a pediatric brain tumor after months of chemo it is a real pleasure to see someone go out of their way to help someone and make their day special. I can remember the day the Islanders came to Schneider's Children's Hospital to give out gifts, we met a whole bunch of Islanders but the 2 who stopped by my son's room were Kyle Okposo and Bill Guerin. Kyle was uncomfortable but you could tell Mr. Guerin was a dad and a true gentleman... he sat and spoke to my wife for a while and then when they were about to leave the floor that my son was on he went back to my wife, gave her a hug and wished her the best of luck for my son. My wife who is a hockey fan ... (not a die hard as myself) called me in tears saying how it made her day and uplifted her for a bit.
I think that this is one of the things that the players missed out on since the lockout. I know the coaching staff went and visited the kids over at what is now Cohen's Children's Hospital, but I think this is something that the players need to revisit even though that have a tougher schedule.
I hope that the little girl's day was made and that she continues to fight her disease and props to that gentleman who gave his jersey away to her...
