Koivu got pretty much the same **** then Plekanec, their not real 1st centers, their too small and too soft.

The thing is Koivu never played with elite wingers in his entire tenure in MTL the best players he played with was Tanguay and Ryder probably. It didn't click with Kovalev.

He managed to put up 75 points while playing with 3rd line grinders that's something impressive.

If we had focussed on giving him real wingers except complaining on how he isn't a 1st line center and we need to replace him, maybe the situation could have been different.

Saku was better than his Brother which everyone think of as a 1st line center, but both are so injury prone it isn't fair.

It still kind of a disgrace that we let him walk when he still could pilot the third line and put up so nice points with Eller and Moen.

I wasn't a Koivu fan by all means but i recognized the situation, when you play with Pierre Dagenais and Chris Higgins it's hard to effective.
