No offense to Nick Schultz, but I view him more as a borderline 2nd pairing guy. Quality depth that can fill in as a top 4 when needed, but that's it. He can do the job, but he's not ideal. And if you do play him on the 2nd pairing, that pushes Smid into a #1/2 role...which I don't think is the best way to utilize him.

On the right side, I see both J.Schultz and Petry as legit top 4 defenders. With some development, maybe one of them turns into a top pairing guy. Let's hope!
