On a purely financial equation it makes sense. If my boss would give me double my salary this year and 0 next year, it would be better than the opposite. Always better to receive money first. He can invest the extra 250,000 and have 7% growth (conservative estimate).. that's an extra 17,500$ just because he gets more money the first year rather than the 2nd.
