They are taking a hardline approach out of principal i think but until the facts are known its hard to say who is being ridiculous here. Maybe both are. Maybe the Habs want 2M/year and Subban wants 12M/year. Who knows.

But the fact of the matter is that Subban is a RFA. He doesn't have a lot of leverage and offersheets are very unlikely at this stage given the cap reductions.
