And, frankly, it doesn't even matter how Lovejoy is. He is NOT a playoff caliber defenseman, period. Despres COULD be. I thought that was the premise of keeping him up. Let him go through the growing pains NOW, so you can see if there's a reward there in April or if upgrading the defense is a bigger deadline priority.

IMO, the same goes for Bortuzzo and Englland. Englland is sort of passable as a playoff #6. Bortuzzo COULD be more than that.

That really was the same reason to keep Bennett and give him a run.

You'll think otherwise when the playoffs come and the coaching staff believes that guys like Engo and Lovejoy are options because the young guys have 'too little playing experience'.
