I literally had no options, the puck was rolling and by the time I settled it down and looked up, I was at the hash marks. Normally I NEVER deke because I have never scored on a deke (outside my second ever goal as an adult...which was probably 400-500 goals ago).

You could be fumbling it because it's coming too high on your blade. It's always safe to get it a little lower on the blade towards the heel if it's happening. Next time just adjust if you are coming too high and if you miss 1 or 2 of the pucks. Gives you a better shot at getting one settled down and a good scoring opportunity if you switch it up and focus on getting it towards the heel.
That's great to hear about your slapper though. Keep working on it, alot of people don't think you use it in game play if you are a forward (don't know if you are, i'm just saying). It's good to take a slapper to the net other than a weak wrist shot if you are in that position. Even as a forward you want the most array of options at your disposal.
I'm working on my shot as we speak and trying to shoot more at the mid-toe portion of the blade. I tend to shoot from the heel-mid which isn't working as well.
