Getting 3.75M in year two instead of $2.9M is quite significant, as that will have to be his minimum qualifying offer in two years, when he will also have arbitration rights.

Also, the structure of THIS deal is interesting. Basically PK gave in and let Bergevin have the one-year screwing that the CBA allows between the end of the 3-year ELC status and the onset of arbitration rights after 4 years pro, but the second year he gets what an arbitrator probably would give him anyway yet avoiding a dispute next year.
