If they had Malone then that was the year that Crosby was hurt for a good portion of the season because of his ankle and Malkin went into ridiculous mode on the left boards.

And Whitney was on the right boards. So, yes they had an all left lineup but Whitney was at least positioned on the left wall. Just seems like that spot is left (haha) empty in the DB scheme.
