Malkin in a UFA after next season. He gets about 100 to 110 pts a year, do you trade two 80pts guys for 1 100pts guy. For me Martin does not bring what the oilers need on the D-line.
Malking is a great player, but I want to see Nuge and Yak develop and see where they go. Oilers are not in a win now mode and can wait to see how they develop. And those two first rounders will be in the top ten area and the next two drafts are reportedly deep. While having short term gain for the oilers, it would incur long term pain.
If the oilers start moving first rounder around I think they will do it for a goalie
Edmonton is also giving up 2 1st round picks in a highly deep draft this year. Neither team would ever offer or even accept such a deal, but if it ever went down, Pitts wins this trade hands down!
