(Update: The Buffalo Sabres (NHL) and Buffalo Braves (NBA) both began play in the 1970-71 season.)

If it happens, it might be a logistical nightmare for KeyArena with necessary updates to the facility before the NHL's October 2013 season opener. At the same time, it would not be impossible for both teams to share the arena with that configuration for just two seasons. (Think the former America West Arena: Coyotes/Suns).

Personally, since the agreement to buy and move the Sacramento Kings to Seattle will, essentially, guarantee that a new Seattle arena will be built by the fall of 2015, I'd prefer the NHL start in Seattle for the 2015-16 season through expansion or relocation.

Then again, I'm just a hockey fan, not a billion dollar franchise owner.
