I am looking to transfer/make a copy of a 2TB Western Digital MyPassport HDD to another 2TB WD HDD. Have an iMac with USB 2.0. Normally if I'm just doing computer to HDD or vice versa, the transfer rate is at a GB per minute. When doing HDD to HDD it is about half that speed because of sharing the motherboard, etc.

This would take ALL day, at least, if I did it the standard 'drag & drop' (whether it's all the files at once or one at a time). Is there a better option than this? Have read about some large transfer programs, but all the somewhat reliable ones seem to be for PC. Do I have to worry about the source HDD getting fried spending so much time working/transferring?
For a one-time transfer? Just do it overnight.
