It actually is trivial in most contexts, but Therrien used it as a lesson teaching moment to emphasize focusing on achieving the team's goals.

I doubt this is particularly traumatizing event for P.K, but fans desperately have Beiber-like fanboy issues and want their player to have what they think is the player's personality over understanding acts that help win games.
