Evgeni Malkin, the leading scorer of the NHL, was not on the ice to start a fight. The fact that a fight occurred after a scrum that started with Talbot is a separate issue entirely. The fact that it has been repeated over and over again that it's hardly an automatic suspension, and that guys like Scott Walker - hardly a star player for hardly a darling team - have not been suspended for WORSE incidents is being completely ignored by you. That rule was put in specifically to keep coaches from tossing their message sending goons out on the ice to make a mockery of the game. A fight that happens in the heat of the moment isn't the same thing.
Anyway, make sure you don't lose your permission slip...
Not to mention the suspension was waived because the instigator was (rightly) rescinded. When you pull a guy out of a pile by grabbing him around the neck, he's not the one who started the fight. Even if his gloves were off first.
