People are a little sensitive on these boards. The disdain some posters developed for Dubi is incredible. He's only got 4 points in 9 games this year, on a really bad team with literally ZERO first line talents on their roster right now, so let's extrapolate that 9 game sample size and say that he's washed up and will never be a 50 point player again. I mean, absolutely, he may not, but you do realize what team he plays for now, right? Anyhow, that's not the point I meant to make. The point I wanted to make was that when I said Miller compares more favorably to Dubinsky (low end, a steady NHLer who can play 3rd/2nd line and is responsible defensively; high end, a borderline 1st line/ideal 2nd line guy with a good two-way and physical game) MORE SO than Patrick Kane, who I don't see Miller comparing to at all, it wasn't some kind of insult to Miller. Brooks Laich and Ryan Kesler are perfectly apt comparisons as well; I only chose Dubinsky because he's a player whose game everyone is most familiar with. But somehow, I compare one of our prospects to Dubinsky and people on these boards react as if I'm insulting the prospect. Everyone wants to come to Miller's defense: "what? Miller is miles better at this, this and this!". Okay. I'm not insulting Miller when I compare him to Dubi. Many of his attributes project a bit better, but Dubinsky is still a successful NHL player and Miller has to make the show and then produce before he can be better than him. I said his potential NHL game is CLOSER to a Dubinsky than Kane. I said that if he doesn't realize his NHL potential, he should still, at minimum, be able to be the player Dubinsky is today and if he realizes all of his potential he'd be the guy we all wished Dubi became, which is the consistent 55+ point player. Expecting more than that and comparing him to a finesse 70-90 point winger with world-class hands seems a lot more far fetched than comparing him to a SIMILAR player (albeit, one with his own deficiencies and differences from Miller) who grew up in the same system, with the same coaches, etc.
