The centerman on the Canucks by that name has always been known as a smart guy, not just in terms of hockey smarts, and to me it shows in his interviews. Not quite up to Cory Schneider's eloquence, but better than most. Gillis admires intelligence in his players, and Schroeder's smarts may have helped him to figure out how to change his game from cherry-picker to mini badger and worm his way into AV's heart.
