Also try popping the CMOS battery and clearing with the jumper. CLRTC, should be at the opposite end of the CPU by the expansion slots.
ASUS boards like to have firmware issues these days.
Double check the board seating to make sure it's not shorting on something metal.
If you have a 4 pin PC speaker (might be one in your motherboard box) hook it up. See what comes out.
