Islanders only give up a 2nd if he reports.

Basically what will happen is he won't report this year. That gives them $5M Towards the salary cap without having to pay any real money. They'll toll his contract, and he either reports next year and they get a pretty good goalie for a 2nd rounder, or he doesn't and they just lowered their cap floor by $5M for nothing. Smart move, but I would be pissed as an Islander fan for the owner running the franchise like that.
