That's IF he really accepts "only" $4.5 million. We all know players want to be compensated for the tax situation in Montreal (even the home-boys), so it could cost us over $5 million, which would be four first round picks.

Gagne for Samsonov and four first rounders? Pfff! Clarke is laughing. Imagine what he could do with EIGHT first round picks over the next four years (his original four, and the four he gets for Gagne).

“Hey Chicago, you have the 1st overall pick, how about we give you our two firsts this year, a first next year and another first the year after?”

He’d get the 1st overall, and still have four first round picks over the next three years.
