Exactly. This why it frustrates me so much when the wing's have a bad game here or there and everyone panics and starts demanding "Holland get off his lazy butt and make some trades." If you want anything of worth back you're gonna have to trade some of these kids. I'd much rather develop our own talent and be competitive long term.

If this season is a "rebuild year," and we are still able to compete (and maybe make the playoffs) while waiting for some of our top prospects to be NHL ready. I'd say Holland, Nill, and company are doing a great job. Of course, at some point you're going to actually make room on the roster for these kids.

You cannot dominate every year in a capped league. But if you draft and develop well you can compete every year, and be a serious contender every so often.
