i hate the Caps, but i mean no offense to them when i suggest that they're not playing well enough to claim that the Pens don't need Letang just because the Caps lost to the Pens without him. they're the worst team in the East. it's not like they're the Lightning or the Sharks who have good rosters.

to answer the bolded question, yes, because he's the Pens' best defenseman.

you don't trade a young #1 defenseman unless there's a significant overpayment.
