That's an object of envy from other 29 GMs. Letang has being at his peak right now and his value is extremely high. Is it worth to keep him when there are several quickly developing d-men knocking the door of the roster?
Teams come together and play without some players all the time, if they win a few does that mean they don't need that player anymore?

Letang in the line-up makes the Penguins a much better team than him gone for good and the team adding another 1st line winger. The ONLY time Letang ever gets traded is if these scenarios present themselves...

1. He asks for a trade.
2. During contract negotiations, Shero and Letang's camp are millions apart.
3. A defenseman or two, step up from within and make him expendable and Shero eyes a chance to score a core top line winger from someone.

None of the situations have presented themselves, could they? Sure, the Staal thing did happen after all and #3 has happened before (Whitney, when Letang & Goligoski stepped up).

Until then, he's staying.
