But he had posted the rankings as they'd stand "after" the Olympics. Say for instance Germany place 4th at this year's Worlds. Is missing the Olympics that detrimental to their rank that they could be no better than 15th? (when currently they're 10th). I don't see how such a drop is possible, or how it can be determined prior to either of the next two tournaments being played.

Such a ranking serves no purpose. There is no Olympic ranking outside of the placement of the playing teams going into the tournament and out of it.
