You don't hear Newhouser's name in baseball lore anymore. Alot of Tigers fans don't even know who he is; but he was perhaps the most dominant player (and the undisputed top pitcher) of the World War II era. With a lively mid 90's fastball and a great changeup and curveball, Newhouser made opposing teams look absoutely foolish, and put up perhaps the greatest two year stretch of any pitcher in history in 1944-45. He will anchor the middle of the Astros' rotation.
Prepare to be heavily criticized for picking a WW2 era pitcher.
