I have no problem with a guy like Kozlov or Carter for 1 year. These kinds of players are perfect (for 1 year) for a team with a lot of rookies that still need to try and make the postseason. Another teams will always be interested in a veteran type during the year on a 1 year contract. If you see your young players are progressing to the point where they NEED more ice time, it shouldn't be difficult to move a guy like Kozlov or Carter (assuming they have performed at decent levels).
