Håkan Loob should be considered too. Did a lot for the national team and is still the only Swedish players with a +50 goal season (it is harder than one might think) add the triple gold club too.

Then there are some players who never went to NHL (guys before Salming) who should not be considered in this poll as North Americans cannot relate to them, but some of those will rank high from a Swedish perspective.

A thread for a similar discussion with some older guys (Tumba, Lill-strimma, Sterner) in it:
Most talented Swede ever to play hockey?

1. Forsberg (love the style or hate hockey)
2. Lidström (most successful Swedish player so far)
3. Sundin (First European NHL captain)
4. Sedin (skill and tremendous ethos)
5. Sedin(skill and tremendous ethos)
6. Salming (Trailblazer for all Europeans)
7. Alfredsson (A good captain with longevity)
8. Lundqvist (Best Swedish goalie, Pelle Lindbergh, RIP)
9. Näslund (Important part for creating the contender Vancouver)
10. Loob (+50 goal in a season, triple gold club)

Those who could make top 10:
Lindbergh, Zetterberg, Kent Nilsson, Thomas Steen,

Other triple gold guys:
Mats Näslund, Tomas Jonsson, Fredrik Modin, Mikael Samuelsson, Niklas Kronwall

The heritage: Tumba, “Lill-strimma” Svedberg, Sterner

Yes I think this is a good assessment.

Now? No I do not think so and I do not think that you think that either. Otherwise we could add in a whole bunch of up and coming Swedish players (e.g.: Landeskog, OEL, Hedman, Lehner) by looking in the crystal ball. Karlsson have done nothing to rank up in even top 20 as it is now.
