There is a reason why Berard has played in the NHL with one eye and Pock is not being looked at on a team that is rebuilding and looking for defenseman. Heck any rumor that's come up or trade talk hasn't involved him either.
The reason is simple, until Pock can at least make himself average at defending at the AHL level there's little hope for him at the NHL level. He's not going to be a stay at home guy, but he MUST at least get to the middle ground at his current level first.
The minors have a history filled with guys with very good offensive numbers at the defenseman position. Aside from the players already named you could throw names like Jeff Sharples out there.
Stats for minor league guys can be only part of the tale. It's why names like Ken Quinney, Daniel Shank and Rob Brown never became household names. And in some cases guys may even make it for a season or two,but over the long run they usually don't last.
Pock might play at the NHL level. He may even pop in some points for one or two seasons, but so much of what I see I feel I've seen a million times before. A guy who is good enough "for now" with some teams but who ultimately just doesn't quite have enough to make it long term. And for me, that's the best case scenario right now unless something changes.
He seems like Andy Delmore to me.
