I know you guys all complain about it, but you can't deny that the Devils utilizing the holding, intereference, etc. to their advantage is good coaching by DeBoer. If they let you do it, then you might as well do it as much as you can.
The Devils know just what they can get away with and they use it to their advantage. Team weakness for the Devils is their speed and doing all the interference helps to compensate for that. Usually they allow you to get in the way of a player, but once you make the body motion that you are purposely getting in the way, they call it.
That being said, I'm surprised at some of the stuff the Devils got away with tonight. They let some pretty blatant interferences and hooks go. The notable ones were Josefson/Salvador on Rinaldo on a dump-in, Elias interfering with Giroux (accidentally) and then hooking him on a cross-ice pass, and then at the end of the game, and Carter hooked the Flyer forward with the puck in the middle of the ice allowing Gionta go the other way while the Flyers were changing.
