What worries me about tanking for a pick is creating a losing mentality with all the young players on the team. You want to build a core of players that are used to winning, and players that can overcome injuries. Those are the type of teams that go on to win the cup. I`d rather have a team that can battle through issues like the sens are currently facing, and work hard for a mid-placement, rather than just throwing in the towel and going for a pick. The Oilers have the assets and the young players, yet they struggle to make it work. Consecutive seasons of being a losing team is hardly what you want to build a cup run on. Penguins excluded.

The benefits of having a team that can fight through this are probably greater than one high pick.
