Paul is in desperate need of a change of scenery, and Toronto will give him that. He will have every opportunity to prove himself as a #1 centre in the NHL playing with the likes of Phil Kessel and Joffery Lupul on Toronto's top line. It is very difficult to move a young guy the Gardiner, but with Rielly, Finn, Blacker, Percy and now Elliott in the system, we have a glut of young D-men poised for NHL minutes.

The Deal looks like this:

Paul Stastny
Stefan Elliott

James van Riemsdyk
Jake Gardiner

The Avalanche confirm this trade. We felt like it was time to part with Stastny and wish him the best of luck. We strongly believe that he will be the player that we know he is capable of being on a new team.

We are very excited to get two high potential youngsters and believe that they will be crucial to our success in a few seasons.
