Isn't it obvious that being a GM requires not only putting in long hours but also great patience? You can trade stocks at will because there are so many buyers and sellers on the market but opportunities to trade NHL players are few and far between, especially early in the season. If Bergevin wanted to trade Desharnais, for example, he'd have to make many calls and even then he might not find much interest. The likelihood that a GM would call Bergevin and ask if Desharnais is available is even more dubious. So, let's assume that the Habs will probably look the same up to just before the trading deadline as they do today, barring further injuries or a startlingly great improvement in one of the Bulldogs.
