Yep, he sucked for Canada, and that was after a pretty good season with the Avalanche as well. Still, I don't think he's ever turned down Team Canada. His comments have always seemed very positive towards international play. Just my hunch, but if the Canadians call him to go to Sweden I think he will say yes and it's almost certain that he'll be free at that time.
