I think that gives Community a little extra security that they wouldn't have otherwise. Until they find another comedy that sticks with an audience, they can't really axe Community. At the very least, I expect a half-length 5th season renewal, unless the current season is so bad without Dan Harmon (and eventually Chevy Chase) that it even puts off the few viewers it has.
Also, I just read that Comedy Central picked up Community for syndication starting in the Fall. That should help their ratings as people will be able to get into the show, potentially buy DVDs and tune in live.
Sure, but I'm talking about making sure the show stays fresh and doesn't outstay its welcome. I'm not sure where they'd take the story in a fifth year.
