You're thinking is right in that Dykhuis is still an NHL calibre defenceman. A fourth round pick may be a little bit high, as he could have been had for free in the waiver draft. Although, if at the deadline another middle-of-the-pack Eastern team made a move to bolster their blueline, I think Waddel would bite on this. Today, Dykhuis' value is probably in the 6th round range. While he is only two years removed from a stellar season with the Habs, his soft play and lack of defensive smarts may be the reason he's not back in the league for while. To his credit, though, he has good height (though it doesn't mean much when not willing to utilise it) and he's an excellent skater, perhaps the best to play for the Habs in the past year, with the exception of Chad Kilger.
