As far as Higgins is concerned at least, he can be thrown together with Plekanec any time and in pretty much any situation. While they aren't vastly experienced at the NHL level (although they both certainly showed they belonged last year), they have spent enough time playing on the same lines together in Hamilton and Montreal to have a solid understanding of each others game, at both ends of the ice. Ryder meanwhile, had a lot of success playing with Ribeiro as his centre in his rookie year. Hopefully, they would be able to get right back into the swing of things if they were paired together again.

That is one of the potential strengths of the team, with the current and forthcoming influxes of youth. They will have had a chance to get to know some of the other players on the team before they join Montreal. And with Bob Gainey specifically looking for the right kind of player to aquire in Free Agency and Trades, I imagine chemistry would be one of the better aspect of our team when the season roles around. It also has the potential to be a strength for some time. But this is all on paper, hopefully the theory is proven at traning camp.
