I wouldn't call him a center based on this, personally. But Iain Fyffe's answer would be much more definitive than this.
From my research his only play at centre was in Western Canada. So his best years were at LW. But he did legitimately play centre. But really when a player is more proven at the more rare position, why would you use him at the more common position?
