Secondly, that's not a particularly fair (or even relevant) statement. The U.S. was in a similar situation in 2010 (with only Parise and Kane being offensive standouts), but still managed to whip our butts in the round robin and take us to OT in the gold medal game.

While I would have concerns (if I were American) about their ability to leverage their size to their advantage on the international ice surface and their lack of elite playmaking skill at center (though they have some guys coming up like Galchenyuk that may mitigate this), they typically play at a level greater than the sum of their parts and should have superb goaltending, so you should dismiss them as contenders only at your own peril.

Any buzz for Corey Crawford getting consideration or is he more of a product of playing behind that team? His numbers are right up there.
