I do have to say, Pitkanen's defensive performance is a lot better than his reputation. He very quietly prevents a lot of shifts from going haywire. He's in about the same category as Kimmo Timonen in my mind.

Whether we want to call it a lower-end #1 or a higher-end #2 is a matter of semantics. I think there's more of a consensus on his ranking than it would appear from the arguments here.
