As for my opinion on the hit; it certainly was late, was high (taking into account players' relative heights or not), and was a penalty. Wouldn't disagree with any of that. As far as further discipline, wouldn't be shocked with a game or two. It's probably the correct call given how it was viewed in the official's eyes. However, I do agree with the above poster that even if all of the above stated are true, there should be a bit of an onus on the player to protect himself for a hit that is clearly coming.
Not if you don't have the puck. It was a pretty late hit.
