The thing about baseball is that it doesn't lend itself for someone to be able to follow the entire majors closely without making a huge time investment. Your team plays almost every single day, so unless you want to watch baseball every single day you are probably just going to watch the games your team plays. Not only that but because of such limited interleague play, one doesn't become very familiar with the opposite league if you only watch your team.

I'm a Jays fan and I enjoy watching the playoffs. But a lot of times I'm watching the NL and I don't know half of the lineups.
