Rob Parent is reporting it is a possible groin injury... (
Flyers defenseman Erik Gustafsson went out of tonight's 4-1 Flyers victory over the Washington Capitals after taking a shot off his shin.
Afterward, Gustafsson, who missed a lot of games with the Phantoms after going out with a broken ankle -- suffered after he blocked a shot -- in December, said this injury is on his other leg.
But sources say Gustafsson isn't dealing with the after-effects of a shot to the shin, but rather a possible pulled groin muscle.
Either way, Gustafsson, while not revealing the nature of the injury, is hopeful it doesn't turn out to be a serious one.
"Obviously you don't want to be injured but it's part of the game," he said. "Stuff happens. It got treated ... I'll be back sooner rather than later."

Another game, another injury for the Flyers. Defenseman Erik Gustafsson, who has been an important, mobile addition since his recall from Adirondack, left 7 minutes into the second period and did not return.
Officially, the Flyers called it a "lower-body" injury,
but Gustafsson was suffering from groin discomfort. The injury is considered to be relatively minor.
Gustafsson told reporters postgame that blocking a shot caused a shin injury. He missed more than a month of action in the AHL with an ankle fracture in December.

“He hit me on the [left] shin pad. It’s OK, just a lower-body injury,” Gustafsson said.
Asked if he can play Saturday against Ottawa, he replied, “We’ll see. It got treated and we’ll see how fast it goes. I’ll be back sooner than later.”
As for pain, he said, “It’s not great, but it could definitely be worse.”
He knows worse. Gustafsson previously blocked a shot while playing with the Adirondack Phantoms on Dec. 15, 2012 and missed six weeks with a fracture in his lower right leg.
There is an optional skate today (Thursday), not a full practice.
