I was hit from behind playing hockey back in 2005. It wasn't vicious, but I didn't see it coming (head down, facing the corner). In the OHL, it'd have been two-min for CFB. I'm still feeling the effects.
I don't disagree with you, I'm just stating that the league has always been more harsh when the player is injured. See Michael Liambis on Ben Fanelli.
