Not sure what Calgary is thinking here.

Giving away what should be a decent 1st round and 3rd round pick, for 1.25 years of a young somewhat unproven player, who hasn't played an NHL game for nearly a year. Their prospect pool is lacking as it is. And they aren't likely to be a real cup contender this year or next. Even with ROR in the lineup they aren't a sure playoff team.

As an Oilers fan I dont mind this move however. Either way though a division rival is getting a decent player or a decent draft selection. But I prefer to see Calgary worse off, and I think if ROR goes there, they will not benefit in the long run.

If this would have been a 4 or 5 year deal, maybe that would make more sense?
