I'm really struggling to see where some of this praise is coming from, until this defense is bigger and more physical he's an asset but he looks outmatched out there to me.
At the risk of creating a strawman (
), I will simply ask you what more do you want from Emelin?
He leads the team in hitting, is a +2 (while his partner is struggling a bit) and gives 100% effort while on the ice.
He does have 19 turnovers but Diaz has 13, Markov has 22 and Boullion has 15.
He is averaging 1 blocked shot per game, the exact same average as Subban. He is no Diaz or Gorges when it comes to blocked shots but he is also no Kaberle either.
His takeaways are virtually the same as Diaz and Subban but more than Gorges.
What am I missing?
