I was one of the biggest Latendersse critics there was a year or so ago just before the 2005 draft, but I am willing to admit when I am wrong. His skating is much better than I had been led to believe and from what I had seen; I think people failed to take his shoulder injury into account and how long it takes a big growing boy to get back into gear.
Some people put way too much stock into WJC performances; Lats was the odd man out for ice time - it happens to 18-year-olds. Hell; lots of 18-year-olds that go on to solid NHL careers never make the team, let alone win a Gold medal. If he doesn't make the Habs Guillaume will be an integral part of this year's squad along with linemate Brassard. They'll tear up the Q and play together in the WJC on one of the top lines.
