I think Briere's value is very much up in the air. I could easily see a team overpaying for him. A team that trades for him is doing so for one reason: the playoffs. Briere is pretty much the most clutch playoff performer in the NHL at the moment. Let's say Phoenix or St. Louis is close to what they believe to be Cup contenders. I could see them overpaying to get a guy like Briere. Is he worth Rundblad and first? In a vaccuum, no he isn't. At the deadline for a team who has a lot of youth to trade but lacks a presence like Briere? Maybe. The deadline ups guys values, especially proven track record guys.

That being said, I could also see him either (a) not waiving the NMC, or (b) a team only willing to trade picks rather than prospects or roster players. It is very much up in the air. It wouldn't surprise me to see any of these scenarios play out.
