It's 30 days and 10 NHL games. Boychuk only played 7 games with Pitt so he could be sent down. Assuming Carolina was the only team to put in a waiver claim (i.e. no teams with better records put in a claim) then they can send him to the AHL without waivers within the next 30 days.

*At least this is how it worked under the 2005 CBA. Until we see otherwise in the new CBA presuming everything will work the same since the new CBA MOU didn't discuss any changes to this.
