There was no condition on the pick and that season Hossa wasn't doing any better than Iginla is this year.
Christensen was a healthy scratch at the time of the trade and had been sparsely used all season - he was nothing more than a shootout specialist. The only thing he looked like was that he was going to be out of a job soon...he was a common whipping boy.

Calgary almost certainly will get a 1st in any deal for Iginla, just setting things clear that Christensen was hardly a valuable asset.
