Greiss as a rental would have some value, but probably not enough for Canes to fill San Jose's need (a defensively responsible youngish Tweener that can contribute 30+ points in a full season, who might develop into a second liner). Would be willing to do Greiss++ for the right NHL level Forward.
No kidding, I was just thinking about Greiss and whether he was available or not. Jeremy Welsh, perhaps? Currently at a 4th line level, potential 3rd line center next year. I think giving an Ellis/Greiss tandem a try this regular season may work for us. Also would would give us two options for backup next year.

How about a trade like this?

To Canes:

D Douglas Murray (UFA)
G Thomas Greiss (UFA)

To Sharks:

RW Chad LaRose (UFA)
C Jeremy Welsh (Prospect)
